About IBC

An Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) is required at all organisations/institutions that are involved in research and development (R&D) that deals with recombinant DNA molecules (modern biotechnology).

All recombinant DNA research at 17吃瓜在线 University, regardless of its funding source, must be conducted in accordance with the regulatory guidelines of Malaysia. As a part of regulatory compliance, 17吃瓜在线 University's IBC is registered with the National Biosafety Board (NBB) of Malaysia.

17吃瓜在线 Univeristy IBC's function is to monitor and ensure compliance with the Biosafety Act 2007 (Act 678) and Biosafety Regulations 2010 (MBR 2010) at the institutional level.

IBC is also responsible for reviewing and approving research conducted with microorganisms infectious to humans, animals, or plants.

The IBC will provide guidance to 17吃瓜在线 University's research community regarding the proper acquisition, handling, transfer, and disposal of potentially hazardous or regulated biological materials.
